Welcome to the home of the
Chamber Orchestra of Denton

The Chamber Orchestra of Denton is a volunteer orchestra in Denton County, Texas, made up of amateur and professional musicians. The group was first formed as a string orchestra in 2002 by a group of Denton string players looking for a group closer to home than the other DFW community orchestras. The group was led by Music Director and conductor Dax Anthony Stokes and assistant conductors Daewoo Lee and John Norine, Jr. The last concert of the COD was performed at Texas Woman's University in October 2005, but now the group is back and planning a concert for Spring 2025, and we are looking for players on all instruments to send in a short taped audition. The COD has always worked to feature local musicians as soloists and to feature local composers. From 2003-2005, the group held a composition contest for local composers.

Auditions are now open for all orchestral instruments.
We are currently looking to fill the following spots for our Spring 2025 concert:

Concertmaster
Violin I & II
Viola
Cello
Double Bass
Flute - 2 players
Oboe - 2 players
Clarinet -2 players
Bassoon - 2 players
Horn - 4 players
Trumpet - 2 players
Timpani - 1 player

To submit an audition, please send a video recording of no more than 10 minutes. Recordings can be sent as files or links. Videos can be unpublished on YouTube or links to a Google Drive that is not password protected. Please submit recordings and any questions by Wednesday, January 15, 2025, to chamberorchestraofdenton@gmail.com

Recordings should include the following:
Your name
1-2 minutes of a solo work for your instrument (Bach for strings is fine; or a concerto)
2 orchestral excerpts from the Baroque or Classical Period of your choice: one slow and one fast
